Power Brushes The adult power brushes that we recommend use a rotation-oscillation action which has independently been proven, when used correctly, to remove more plaque (about 7% more) than a manual toothbrush. - The other benefits are the timer for 2 minutes which tends to keep people brushing for longer.
- All the bristles of power brushes are a bit stiffer but the Oral B bristles soften quite nicely when in water and are therefore a little more gentle. It is still very important to change your brushhead regularly. In most cases every 6-8 weeks, the same as a manual toothbrush.
- Children's power brushes do not have the rotation-oscillation action and in the majority of cases they only require the rotation action anyway. For children older than 9 years we would recommend the advance power brush as it is economical and rechargable. It can be used with the children's brush head or an adult flexisoft.
- Powerbrushes for children can be a powerful motivator to encourage them to brush. The power brushes aimed for under 9 years are non-rechargeable and require a battery to operate. If you want a re-chargable power brush for your over 8 year old we would recommend an Oral-B advance with the childrens brush-heads which are interchangeable.
